Billy Bethel (Yardley, Pa.) was announced on Saturday, July 22, as one of 10 local athletes to be selected to the
Bucks County Courier Times All-Decade Team. Bethel Billy, a 2017 graduate of Pennsbury High School, was described as one who had done it all. Before becoming a Griffin, Bethel led the Falcons to Suburban One League District One and National titles and a 2017 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class 6A State Championship.
Bethel was joined on the Bucks County Courier Times All-Decade Team by Nick Dean (Bensalem, 2019), Matt Hand ( Council Rock North, 2016), Joey Lancellotti (Archbishop Wood/Penn Charter, 2017), Danny Long (Pennridge, 2016), Jared Melone (North Penn, 2015), David Yanni (Central Bucks East, 2015) and three Major League Baseball (MLB) Draftees; Nick Bitsko (Central Bucks East, 2020|2020 MLB Draft; 24
th Pick - Tampa Bay Rays), Jake Drossner (Council Rock North, 2012|2015 MLB Draft; 10
th Round – Milwaukee Brewers), and Nolan Jones (Holy Ghost Prep, 2016|2016 MLB Draft; 2
nd Round – Cleveland Indians). Bethel capped a brilliant high school career as the Bucks County Courier Times Golden Teams Player of the Year (2018). That season, Bethel sported a 9-2 record and a 1.22 ERA after not allowing an earned run in the last seven starts (42.0 IP) of his senior season.
As a member of the Scarlet and Gold, Bethel has established himself as the ace for one of the premier teams in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). He was named to the 2019 All-CACC First Team after ranking among the league's Top-10 in strikeouts (9

Bethel finished his sophomore season (2019) with a 7-4 record and a 4.44 earned run average (ERA) with a CACC Baseball Pitcher of the Week selections on April 3 and April 22, as well as a Weekly Honor Roll recognition on March 25. In the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season, Bethel made three appearances including a season-opening win (W, 10-4 on February 29; 6.0 IP, 4H, 4ER, 5BB, 4K) against Bentley University and scoreless relief appearance (2.1 IP, 2H, 2K) in Chestnut Hill College's March-5, 3-1 win over Florida Memorial University.
As a freshman (2018), Bethel enjoyed a superb rookie season headlining the Scarlet and Gold pitching staff with a 3.14 ERA that procured a 6-2 record and a save. He primarily worked out of the bullpen, logging 43.0 innings in 16 appearances (2 starts) and limited Chestnut Hill College's opponents to 15 earned runs on 45 hits and eight walks. Bethel struck out 31.
