Scouting the Marauders
The Marauders have a new head coach for the first time since the 1990-91 season as Sharay Hall takes over for Mary Fleig who retired at the end of the 2019-20 season.Â
Millersville is led Lauren Lister. Lister got off to a slow start in the first game, only managing to record four points. However, the senior bounced back in fashion, scoring 24 points, including nine in a huge third-quarter comeback to lift the Marauders to their first victory of the season. Lister shot 9-12 from the field in the win, this included the only Millersville make from beyond the arch.
Lister had some help from new-name Marauders including, Makiah Shaw. The freshman averaged 7.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and recorded a block and steal in each game. She scored six points and recorded five boards in the win over Shaw. Another first-year Marauder that played well was La'shrya Williams, she scored 12 points to go along with six rebounds in the win.
Ty Taylor and Mia Leonard provided experience for the Marauders, especially during their first win of the season. Taylor was a defensive nightmare for Shaw, recording four steals in her 24 minutes. Leonard had a near double-double chance in the first game, scoring eight to go with seven boards.
Hall's defensive minded team forced 43 turnovers over the weekend, this included 18 steals and nine blocked shots.Â
