The Chestnut Hill College Women's Basketball team returns home on Saturday to take on Bloomfield College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) crossover contest. The team will be seeking its 13
th straight win and 19
th overall.
Jaeda Wildgoose Day
At halftime of today's game the Chestnut Hill College Department of Athletics and the Women's Basketball team will honor former player #32 Jaeda Wildgoose. Wildgoose played from 2015-19 and is the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,503 points. Wildgoose ranks among the Griffins' top five all-time in 16 different statistical categories
The Series
Saturday's contest with be the 16
th game between Bloomfield college and Chestnut Hill. Bloomfield leads the all-time series 13-2 with the Griffins winning the last two times these teams met, including their last contest at Sorgenti Arena on January 12, 2019 (77-59).
Conference Action
Chestnut Hill currently sits in first place in the CACC South Division with an 11-0 conference record. They are two games ahead of second place USciences and 3½ games ahead of third place Jefferson. Chestnut Hill can clinch one of the top four seeds in the upcoming CACC Tournament with a win on Saturday. Bloomfield sits in 6
th place in the CACC North Division with a 1-10 conference record.
Winning Streak Continues…
Chestnut Hill extended their winning streak to a program record 12 games with their win over Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday. The streak is currently the longest in the D2 East Region and tied for the fifth longest current streak among all NCAA Division II Schools (Glenville St at 19-0 on the season is the longest) and 18
th longest current streak across all three NCAA Divisions. In the Philadelphia area, only Division I Drexel University has a longer active streak at 13 wins.
Griffins Remain #5 in Latest D2SIDA East Region Poll
Philadelphia, Pa. - The Chestnut Hill College Women's Basketball team, following their 3-0 week last week remain in the #5 spot in the latest Division 2 Sports Information Directors Association (D2SIDA) East Region poll, released Monday afternoon. The poll is voted on by representatives of each of the three conference that make up the East Region: The Central Atlantic Collegiate conference, The Northeast-10 conference and the East Coast Conference.
In this, the first season that the Griffins' women's basketball program has been ranked, this week's ranking is their highest. Chestnut Hill was ranked at #8 last week. This marks the sixth consecutive week that the Chestnut Hill Women's Basketball team has either been ranked or has received votes in the poll.

About the Griffins
The Griffins enter Saturday's game with an 18-3 overall record and an 11-0 CACC record following their 79-56 win over Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday, extending their winning streak to a program best 12 games. Chestnut Hill's 18-3 overall and 11-0 conference record is their best record at this point of the season since joining the NCAA in 1996.
Among the Griffins' active players,
Emily Chmiel leads the team with eight double-doubles (leads CACC) and is averaging 12.0 points per game. Chmiel leads the CACC in total blocks (35) and total rebounds (175) and ranks among the conference top eight in eight additional statistical categories, including blocks/game (3
rd, 1.7), free throws made (5
th, 57) and rebounds/game (6
th, 8.3). Chmiel is third on the team with 18 steals and has appeared in all 21 games. Emily earned Player, Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week honors for her performance during the week ending January 23, 2022 and now has earned CACC Rookie of the Week four times and CACC Defensive Player of the Week three.
Point guard
Cassie Sebold is also averaging double figures, scoring 11.5 points per game. She leads the team with 110 assists (2
nd in CACC, 6
th in NCAA) and is tied for the team lead with 24 steals. Sebold is also second on the team with 23 three-point field goals made on the season, while appearing in all but two games this season. Cassie is shooting 85.5% from the free throw line (3
rd best mark in the CACC) and has two double doubles on the season including the Griffins last game on Wednesday.
Bri Hewlett moved into a starting role on 12/8 and has scored in double figures eight of the Griffins last ten games. Hewlett is averaging 7.9 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game. She had a career night against Holy Family last week, recording 23 points (8 FG, 4 3pt. FG) and 12 rebounds to lead the Griffins. She followed that with another double-double against Nyack College 12 points and a career-best 16 rebounds.
Lauren Crim leads the team with 33 three-point field goals following her five three-point field goal performance against Goldey-Beacom and is averaging 7.2 points per game. Crim is also shooting 81.3% from the free throw line and ranks among the top five in the CACC in assist/turnover ratio with a mark of 1.8
Lindsey Lane has started all 21 games and is shooting 43.9% from the field while averaging 5.5 points per game. Lane has made a season-high six field goals against Georgian Court and Felician and had a career-high 15 points vs. Felician.
Abbey Spratt has also started all 21 games and has been the backcourt defensive stalwart usually guarding one of the opponents better players. Spratt is second on the team with seven blocks and 39 assists.
Kaitlyn Carter has also appeared in all 21 games, starting four. She is tied for the team lead with 24 steals and is averaging 4.2 points/game. Carter had a career-high 16 points in the Griffins' win over Jefferson on Jan. 13 and has been a stalwart on defense effectively shutting down a top offensive player on the opposing team in each of the last ten games. Her efforts earned her CACC Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending January 16 when she held the league's leading scorer without a basket in CHC's win at Georgian Court.

Wilmington, Del. - Lindsey Lane and
Cassie Sebold recorded double-doubles as the Chestnut Hill College Women's Basketball team extended their winning streak to 12 games with a wire-to-wire win over host Goldey-Beacom College 79-56 Wednesday night at the Joseph West Jones center in Wilmington, Delaware.
The Griffins improve to 18-3 overall and remain undefeated in Central Atlantoic collegiate Conference games at 11-0. The Lightning fall to 7-12 overall and 2-9 in league play.
Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) led all players with 22 points while dishing out a game and season high ten assists for her second double-double of the season.
Lane (Havertown, Pa.) had ten points and ten rebounds for her first double-double of the season.
Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.) had the hot hand from outside, making five three-point baskets to finish the game with 15 points.
Bri Hewlett (North Wales, Pa.) finished with eight points and seven rebounds while
Emily Chmiel (Doylestown, Pa.) had seven points and seven rebounds.
Brianna Rider (Nottingham, Md.) and
Emily Sekerak (New Tripoli, Pa.) had seven and six points apiece.
Hewlett Named to the CACC Women's basketball Weekly Honor Roll

Bri Hewlett has been named the the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Weekly honor Roll for her performance in the Griffins three games last week.
This week's honor marks the second time this season that Hewlett has been recognized for her performance on the court, having been named to the CACC women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll on January 16, 2022.
Hewlett led the Griffins to another perfect week (3-0) and recorded back-to-back double-doubles in the Griffins two CACC wins (Holy Family and Nyack)... Against Holy Family, she had a career high 23 points (8-15 FG, 4-8 3FG) while grabbing 12 rebounds. On Sunday at Nyack, Hewlett scored 12 points while grabbing a career-high 16 rebounds. Opening the week in the Griffins non-conference win over Staten Island, the senior forward had 13 points in just 19 minutes of action while shooting 50% from field...Since moving into a starting role, Bri has scored in double figures in ten of the last 11 games.
For the week, Hewlett averaged 16.0 points per game and 10.7 rebounds per game while also recording two assists, two steals and a block in the Griffins three games. The senior forward shot 48.6% (17-35) from the field, 33.3% from three point range (5-15) and made nine of ten free throws (90%).

Moving up the Ranks
Cassie Sebold moved into 4
th place on the Griffins all-time scoring list last week with passing Jennifer Banks who scored 1,126 from 2000-2004 (NCAA DIII era). After Wednesday's game, Sebold now needs 5 more points to pass Beth Ann Castone (1,174 pts.) and move into third place on the Griffins' all-time list. In addition, Sebold became the second player in program history to record 400 career assists two weeks ago and now has 430 for her career. (Mary Trossi is the Griffins' all-time leader with 477)

Scouting the Bears
Bloomfield enters Saturday's game with a 3-16 overall mark and a 1-10 record in league play. The Bears have just one win in their last 12 games.
Daniya Darby and Dashanique Ruffin lead the Bears, averaging 11.3 and 11.2 points respectively. Darby who has played in just eight games is hooting 58.7% from the field and grabbing 6.8 rebounds per game. Ruffin is shooting 44.6% from the field and grabbing 8.9 rebounds/game. Ruffin also leads the team with 14 blocks
Jaylah Bennett has 24 three-point baskets to lead the team while Taneshia Tucker is the only other player on the team with ten or more three point buckets, sitting at ten on the season.
Tucker leads the team with 45 assists while Tanazha Ford is second with 40. Siani Smith leads the Bears with 25 steals.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Women's basketball dropped a, 71-68 heartbreaker to Jefferson University Sunday afternoon. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) make-up game after inclement weather prevented the original Saturday afternoon battle left Bloomfield with a 3-16 overall mark and 1-10 in league contests. The Rams who posted a 21-point comeback in the game moved to 14-5 on the season and improved to 7-3 in league play.
The Bears saw a career-high 25 points form
Daniya Darby who came off the bench to go 11-of-14 from the floor and grabbed 9 rebounds. Dashanique Ruffin muscled her way to a 6
th double-double of the season with a modest 10 point, 10 rebound outing while dishing out 6 assists.
Kamrin Babbs had 13 points as she shot 5-of-11 from the field and
Caitlin Townes added 11 points and 6 assists.
Bloomfield, who controlled the game for three quarters saw the Rams erupt for a, 31-11 fourth period to snatch the conference win from their claws. Now the Bears will take almost a week off to regroup before traveling to Chestnut Hill for a Saturday showdown. The Griffins who sit with a perfect 9-0 mark in the CACC South await the North Division squad with a 1:00 pm scheduled tip-off.
