Women's Track and Field Place Four Athletes on the 2025 CACC All-Academic Team

Four members of the Chestnut Hill College Women's Track and Field team have been named to the 2025 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Track and Field All-Academic Team in an announcement made by the conference office.

In order to be eligible for the CACC All-Academic Teams, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, must have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters, and must have achieved a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher through the preceding semester.

Leading the way for the Griffins is three-time honoree Sydney Watts.  Watts is joined by Rebecca Dalton and Erin McCarthy who earn the honor for the second time along with first time honoree Anastasia Watson.  For Watts and Dalton this year's  track and field honors are their sixth of their career as Griffins.   Watts is also a three-time honoree for women's cross country  while Dalton is a two-time honoree for Women's cross country  and women's soccer. McCarthy has also earned all-academic honors across multiple teams, earning three this academic year (cross country women's lacrosse and women's track).

The four Chestnut Hill athletes were among the 51 athletes named to the team, representing all ten of the schools that participate in track and field within the conference.

All four Chestnut Hill athletes are members of Chi Alpha Sigma, the national college athlete honor society  with Dalton, McCarthy and Watson getting inducted last month and Watts in 2024.  The four have also earned CACC Academic honor roll accolades in each of the last three semesters since the program was instituted in Fall of 2023.

Watts graduated in May with honors earning a bachelor's degree in health science.  She has earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors twice (2023 2024) and is also a two-time D2ADA Academic Achievement Award winner. Watts was inducted in Sigma Zeta the national science and mathematics honor society in 2023. She has earned Dean's List honors five times and was named to the CHC Athletic Academic honor roll six times during her career at Chestnut Hill.

Dalton, a criminal justice major, is a two time CSC Academic All-District Winner for Women's Soccer and a D2ADA Academic Achievement Award winner for 2023-24. She has also earned CHC Athletic Academic honor roll accolades in each of her first six semesters and Dean's List honors four times.

McCarthy  earned CSC  Academic all-District team honors for Track and field in 2024. An exercise science major McCarthy has earned Dean's List and CHC athletic Academic Honor Roll accolades in every semester while at Chestnut Hill.

Watson recently graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. In addition to being part of Chi alpha sigma, she is also a member of Tri-Alpha, the National Honor society for first-generation college students. Late last month Watson was named to the CSC Academic All-district team for softball.  In addition to softball and track and field she ran cross country in the fall.   She has earned departmental honors for chemistry and has been named to the Chestnut Hill College Dean's List five times.

Since Chestnut Hill began sponsoring track and field in 2014, 16 different Griffin women's track and field athletes have been named to the CACC Women's Track and Field All-Academic Team a total of 34 times. Six track and field athletes,  Watts this year, have earned all-academic status three times in their career with an additional six, including McCarthy and Dalton earning all-academic team accolades twice.
