Gannon Garners Third ECC Women’s Bowling Rookie of the Week Award
 
Douglassville, Pa. - (2/13/2020) – Freshman Madeline Gannon (Glenolden, Pa.) complied a 19.82 frame average, a .484 strike percentage, and filled 84.7% of her frames to post a 52.4 baker double percentage and earn All-Tournament status at last weekend’s inaugural Griffin Baker Classic. She helped Chestnut Hill College to a sixth place finish (6th of 14 (7W-6L, 4,556 pins) that included a 964-946 victory over #18 Delaware State University, a 916-890 win over #25 Long Island University, and a 4-2 bracket win over #20 Adelphi University.
 
The Griffins kicked off the inaugural Chestnut Hill College Baker Classic with three consecutive wins as they defeated #18 Delaware State University by a 964-946 measure, St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) by an 859-708 spread, and Norfolk State University by a 917-764 margin. Unfortunately, the first day came to a close with a pair of losses with the Griffins falling to Kutztown University (994-925) and #17 Fairleigh Dickinson University (988-951). Gannon led all Griffins with a 21.20 frame average, while junior Christina Del Vecchio (Warrington, Pa.) and senior Stephanie Brogna (Morganville, N.J.) also put in quality efforts with 19.80 and 19.20 frame averages, respectively.
 
On Saturday, Chestnut Hill College completed another three-win day. This time recording consecutive victories over Mount Aloysius College (879-786), New Jersey City University (NJCU) (886-740), and #25 Long Island University (916-890). After putting on a quality performance on Friday, Gannon continued to lead the Griffins, filling 90.0% of her frames.
 
The Scarlet and Gold opened Sunday’s bracket competition with a 4-2 win over #20 Adelphi University. Del Vecchio led the team by filling 11-of-12 frames, while Brogna and Gannon each filled 10-of-12 frames. Next, Brogna filled 9-of-10 frames in a solid performance against Molloy College. But, Chestnut Hill College could not keep up with the Lions, who took the series 4-1. In the final match of the tournament, Brogna filled 13-of-14 frames, yet Adelphi University edged the Griffins by a 4-3 score.
