Heaton Makes CACC Weekly Honor Roll

Julie Heaton (Berlin, N.J.) batted .471 (8-for-17) in a 3-3 week for the Griffins to earn a mention on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Honor Roll. She totaled four runs scored and knocked in two runs with a double and her second collegiate homerun to provide the Griffins with a .706 slugging percentage in the three hole.
Overpowering and efficient, Wilmington University scored 24 runs on 25 hits to defeat Chestnut Hill College (11-23, 8-16) in two run-shortened games 14-1 and 10-0 on Tuesday, April 16. Heaton knocked in the Griffins only run with a fourth-inning double in the opener. The Griffins then split a CACC doubleheader against Post University on Saturday, April 20. Going deep at the beginning and end of the second game, the Griffins secured a 3-2 win to make up for an 8-2 game-one defeat. Heaton was 2-for-6 with a run scored in the twin bill. She recorded her homerun in a four-run fifth inning that earned the Griffins an 8-7 game-one win over Goldey-Beacom College in Sunday's, April 21, CACC doubleheader. She went 3-for-4 in the opener and then 2-for-3 in game two, helping senior pitcher
Mandi Rush (Royersford, Pa.) earn and 8-1 win.
Heaton currently ranks third on the team in batting, holding a .301 (28-for-93) average with 12 runs, eight runs-batted-in (RBI), the three walks.
The softball team interrupts their CACC schedule to face Mercy College in a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader on Thursday, April 25.
