Career-High Helps Gorczynski Collect Second CACC Honor Roll Mention

New Haven, Conn. – (12/1/2013) – Chestnut Hill College junior guard Olivia Gorczynski (Parlin, N.J.) made her second appearance on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll after scoring a career-high 27 points in the Griffins league opener versus Wilmington University. Gorczynski earned her first mention on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll after tying her previous career-high, 19 points, in the Griffins season opener against Bloomsburg University on November 9.

Gorczynski's outside shooting helped Chestnut Hill College (0-4, 0-1) keep pace with the run-and-gun game plan of Wilmington University on Tuesday, November 26. The Griffins tied the contest on nine separate first-half occasions, but with 4:40 left to play the visitors managed to separate for a narrow 37-34 halftime advantage. Following intermission, the Wildcats extended their lead before Gorczynski gradually led the Griffins back into the contest. She totaled 15 second-half points and welcomed a game-tying free throw by freshman guard Erica McIntosh (Waldorf, M.D.) to knot the game at 60-60 just before the five-minute mark (5:28). Unfortunately, the home side went cold as the Wildcats used an 18-8 run to conclude the contest on a 78-68 final.

Gorczynski split her 6-of-10 (.600) three-point shooting performance between the two periods and finished the contest 8-of-14 (.571) from the field and 5-of-7 (.714) from the free throw line. She also recorded two rebounds, an assist, a block and two steals in the ten-point league loss. Gorczynski is currently pacing the Griffins with 14.8 points-per-game (PPG) and she has additionally provided four rebounds, two assists, a block, and five steal through the first four games of the season.

The women's basketball team will take a break from their CACC schedule to visit Lock Haven University for a 6:00 p.m. contest today, Monday, December 2.
