Historic Feat Lands Isaac on CACC Men’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll

New Haven, Conn. - (1/3/2018) – Senior guard Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) averaged 27.5 points-per-game (PPG) and scored the 1,000th point of his collegiate career in a three-point, 98-95, overtime loss at Georgian Court University on December 30 to earn a mention on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Basketball Honor Roll. Isaac was 19-of-32 (.594) from the floor and 14-of-16 (.875) from the free throw line, reporting 25 points in a 100-76 loss to Holy Family University on December 19 and a career-high 30 points in his historic performance against the Lions.

For their last contest before the holiday break, Chestnut Hill College (1-11, 0-5) welcomed Holy Family University to Sorgenti Arena for a CACC evening tip. The Griffins led initially, but the Tigers took their first lead at 14:50, 9-6, and opened up a double digit, 23-12, advantage five minutes later (9:31), before leading by 15 points, 50-35, at halftime, and 24 points, 100-76, at the final buzzer. Isaac was the main attraction for the Scarlet and Gold, coming within eight points of 1,000 for his collegiate career with 25 points in the loss. He was 8-of-13 (.615) from the floor and 7-of-8 (.875) from the free throw line while grabbing three rebounds, handing out six assists, and making a steal.

Junior guard Liban Awl (Manassas, Va.) sent the CACC contest at Georgian Court University into overtime with his last-second three point shot (85-85, 0:02). Unfortunately, the Lions pulled out a 98-95 victory with a clutch performance from the free throw line; the home team hit 19-of-25 (.760) from the charity stripe, including 9-of-10 (.900) in the extra frame. Chestnut Hill College was headlined by Isaac, who became the eighth member of the Griffins' 1,000-point club with a season, and career-high 30 points. He was 11-of-19 (.579) from the floor and 7-of-8 (.875) from the free throw line in his historical performance. He also recorded two rebounds, seven assists, and a steal.

The Chestnut Hill College men's basketball team returns to Sorgenti Arena on Wednesday, January 3, when they begin their 2018 schedule with an 8:00 p.m. contest versus Wilmington University.
