Flourtown, Pa. – (3/16/2013) – Chestnut Hill College tested their medal in a hard fought loss to #31 Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) at Magarity Tennis Club this evening. Sophomore Morgan Oechsle (Coopersburg, Pa.) was the winner there, earning the Griffins lone singles point in a marathon tiebreaker, 6-3, 2-6, 14-12.

Seniors, Anastasiya Shcherbakova (Minsk, Belarus) and Maria Parapouras (Victoria, Australia) won 8-3 at number one doubles, but it was IUP (3-4) who left team play with the advantage with wins of 8-2 and 9-7 at number two and number three doubles, respectively. Chestnut Hill College (14-7) hoped to gain ground as individuals, but only Oechsle found success.

The visitors then fought the Griffins off at number four singles 6-2, 6-2, and number six singles 6-2, 6-0, to secure the win. Oechsle and freshman Axe Owens (Trenton, N.J.) played valiantly until the end, Owens came up short at number five singles, 5-7, 6-4, 10-2, while Oechsle earned the Griffins lone singles point by taking number three singles in dramatic fashion.
