For the fourth straight year, the Chestnut Hill College men served as tournament host and challenger to the #1 Concordia College (NY) in the recently completed Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Final. The Clippers used a 3-0 sweep of doubles play to defeat #2 Chestnut Hill College in a 5-1 final. Senior
Henry Boyle (London, England) recorded the Griffins' lone point, 7-5, 6-1, at number six singles; it was the first championship-match point earned by Chestnut Hill College. The Griffins offered two competitors to the 2016 CACC Men's Tennis All-Tournament Team in freshman
Pierre Kohler (Les Sables d'Olonne, France) and junior
Jonathan Ducretot (Antibes, France). Kohler was named to the All-CACC First Team as the league's Rookie of the Year earlier in the week. He was joined on the all-conference first team roster by sophomore
Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil). Kohler (#4) and Bocaletto (#15) both ranked among the ITA East Region's singles competitors. As the ITA East Region #2 individual, Kohler is currently 17-2 (.895) in singles play. In doubles, he found success with partner, Ducretot in over 61% (16-10, .615) of the time. The duo is currently 13-8 in dual match play and has ranked as high as the #3 team in the ITA East Region this year. Bocaletto is a 7-12 (.368) in singles play (6-10 @ #1) and ranked #15 in the same ITA poll. He and his doubles partner
Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil), earned a #8 position.
For the Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team, a #4 ITA East Regional slotting was nothing new as the Scarlet and Gold has maintained that position since the initial November 17, 2015, poll. The Griffins also appeared at #5 in the NCAA East Regional Rankings, flip-flopping with Adelphi University who trailed them in the ITA team standings. In the singles standings, junior
Laure-Anne Josso (Vannes, France) and freshman
Lara Scholtze (Bod Hamburg, Germany) ranked back-to-back at #9 and #10, respectively, while senior captain
Iman Williams-Mulesa (Pickering, Ontario) returned to the poll for the first time since her sophomore season with a #19 slotting. As a team, Williams-Mulesa and Scholtze ranked at #7, three places higher than they did in the March 16, 2016, poll. All three were all-conference performers with Josso and Scholtze garnering All-CACC First Team laurels and Williams-Mulesa earning an All-CACC Second Team selection. For the third time in four years, Chestnut Hill College took their best shot at #1 Concordia College (NY) in another thrilling CACC Championship Tournament on the campus tennis courts. The CACC All-Tournament Team efforts of seniors, Williams-Mulesa and
Axé Owens (Trenton, N.J.) headlined the weekend for the Griffins, who fell to the Clippers in a 5-0 final.
