Griffins Honor Seniors Prior To Contest with #18 NYIT

Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. – (3/31/2018) – On a sunny, but brisk afternoon, Chestnut Hill College hosed #18 New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) for a Senior Day affair. The Griffins scored the contest's first goal, but the Bears proved better, rattling off 20 unanswered goals over the remaining 28:44, 20-1. Senior attack Julia Galantich (Clinton Corners, N.Y.) headlined the Scarlet and Gold effort with a goal, a ground ball, and four draw controls.
 
11332On the first Chestnut Hill College (3-4) possession of the game, junior midfielder Julia Reinert (Bridgeport, Pa.) found Galantich for the opening goal, 1-0 (28:44). Unfortunately, NYIT (9-2) evened the score, 1-1, just 41 seconds later (28:03) and took the lead for good at 27:30 (2-1). Four Bears recorded at three points or more; the group was headlined by an 11-point performance by senior attack Karle Znaniecki (Port Jefferson, N.Y.), who totaled three goals and eight assists in excess of five ground balls and a caused turnover. Most of the time she found senior attack Alyssa Milano (Rocky Point, N.Y.), who totaled five goals and two assists in addition recording two ground balls and seven draw controls. In goal, junior Ashley Miller (Selden, N.Y.) (9-2) made five saves and recovered a ground ball during the opening 42:54.
 
Prior to this afternoon's contest the Chestnut Hill College Department of Athletics recognized the collegiate careers of Galantich, defender Rachel Daniels (Bear, Del.), midfielder Hunter Leckonby (Charleston, S.C.), midfielder Erica McLaughlin (Magnolia, N.J.), and defender Gillian Wixted (Bensalem, Pa.). Reinert added two ground balls and a draw to her assists. On defense, juniors Kaley Malampy (Ridley Park, Pa.) and Kayla Czernik (Aston, Pa.) combined for four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Junior Valeria Amaya (Oakland, Calif.) (3-4) accounted for all 10 of the Griffins' saves in the opening 43:02.
 
The Chestnut Hill College women's lacrosse team returns to their CACC schedule on Monday, April 2, when they visit Caldwell University for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
