Chestnut Hill College (8-5, 5-2) exploded for a 5-0 run after the opening draw, dominating Wilmington University (5-9, 3-3) until Boykin asserted herself on offense. She scored four times over a 13-minute span to rally the Wildcats from a 5-1 (20:08) to on-goal, 7-6, margin by the seven-minute mark (6:59). But the Griffins were able to flip the switch when needed as they closed the first half with a 3-0 run, thanks to a pair of Leckonby goals (5:15, 3:33) and a concluding Reinert tally, 10-7 (1:07).
The Scarlet and Gold perch was challenged early in the second half with Wilmington University leaning on Boykin to generate a 7-3 run that deadlocked the game, 13-13, with 16:45 remaining. Fortunately, the Griffins handled the pressure, using unassisted scores from Galantich (14-13, 13:04), sophomore midfielder
Spencer Fitzgerald (Huntingtown, Md.) (15-13, 10:38), and Leckonby to lead 16-13 (9:08) down the stretch. There, the Wildcats issued one last revival, but the effort fell one goal shy (16-15, 4:59) thanks to heroic deposits from Galantich (17-15, 3:51) and Reinert (18-15, 1:14).
Boykin scored on 10 of her 14 shots and finished the contest with 15 points in all. Sophomore midfielder Lashay Ross (Hamilton, N.J.) helped Boykin keep Wilmington University in the fray with three goals, two assists, and two ground balls. Sophomore attack Sam Foster (Rising Sun, Md.) and freshman attack Taylor Lambeth (Townsend, Del.) added one goal apiece, while junior goalkeeper Maddie Hurm (Elkton, Md.) recorded 14 saves and three ground balls in the loss (5-9).
Leckonby headlined Chestnut Hill College's united effort with six goals, one assist, and five ground balls, two draws, and a caused turnover. Galanitch totaled six points (4 goals, 2 assists) in addition to three ground balls and four draws, while Reinert finished the affair with three goals, one assist, five ground balls, two draws, and two caused turnovers.
