Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. – (4/18/2018) – In tonight's home finale, Chestnut Hill College used an early first half run – triggered by three consecutive scores from sophomore midfielder Spencer Fitzgerald (Huntingtown, Md.) – to endure Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Nyack College, 16-11. Fitzgerald finished with four goals, as did senior attack Julia Galantich (Clinton Corners, N.Y.), who also supplied four assists, two ground balls, and five draws.

Chestnut Hill College (9-5, 5-2) dominated the early action, pacing Nyack College (3-12, 2-6) to 7-1 spread in the opening 10 minutes (20:30). Fitzgerald ignited the Scarlet and Gold avalanche as she separated the Griffins from a 2-1 edge with three straight scores (26:01, 25:32, 24:33) and an assist to senior midfielder Erica McLaughlin (Magnolia, N.J.) (6-1, 21:09), before a Galantich connection with junior defender Macailagh Smith (Red Bank, N.J.) pushed the Chestnut Hill College advantage to 7-1 (20:30). The Warriors sporadically chimed in over the course of the remaining first-half clock, scoring four times amidst five Griffin goals to narrow the halftime spread to 12-5.

In the second half, the Chestnut Hill College concern became a little more serious as junior goalkeeper Imani Dawson (Laurel, Md.) slowed the Griffin offense enough for her Warriors to pull within five goals (15-10, 5:50). Fortunately, Scarlet and Gold scores from senior midfielder Hunter Leckonby (Charleston, S.C.) (13-7, 19:22), sophomore midfielder Mary Kroppe (Wyomissing, Pa.) (14-7, 16:02), Galantich (15-7, 15:29), and sophomore attack Dai Pearson (Pottstown, Pa.) (16-10, 3:58) were enough to preserve the Griffin victory.

Freshman midfielder Melissa Clapsaddle (Jacobus, Pa.) led Nyack College with four goals, four ground balls, and six draws. Senior attack Tori Silvers (Long Island, N.Y.) supported her effort with three goals, four ground balls, two draws, and two caused turnovers of her own. Sophomore defender Torrie Eggers (Washington Township, N.J.) helped Dawson in the Warrior backfield with four ground balls and four caused turnovers; Dawson (0-2) impressed with 19 saves and five ground balls.

In addition to her four goals, Fitzgerald recorded an assist, two ground balls, and four draws. Leckonby and McLaughlin finished the affair with two goals apiece, while sophomore attack Patty Riedlova (Philadelphia, Pa.) provided the other Griffin goal not previously mentioned. On defense, junior Kaley Malampy (Ridley Park, Pa.) headlined the unit with five ground balls and three cause turnovers. In goal, junior Valeria Amaya (Oakland, Calif.) (9-5) and freshman Shenna Grady (West Chester, Pa.) shared the 60 minutes; the former made one save, collected a ground ball, and caused a turnover in the opening 18:37, while the latter logged five saves and two ground balls in the remaining 41:23.

The Chestnut Hill College women's lacrosse team completes their CACC regular season schedule on Saturday, April 21, when they visit Dominican College for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
