Spann Scores Second CACC Rookie of the Week Award, Warrick Warrants Weekly Honor Roll Mention  
 
New Haven, Conn. - (1/13/2020) – Capitalizing on an 11-point, 13-rebound double-double from freshman guard Scottie Spann Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa.) and a 22-point performance from sophomore forward Amir Warrick (Washington, DC), Chestnut Hill College led for most of the affair in Saturday’s (January 11) 76-75 league victory at Felician University. Spann and Warrick’s performances were rewarded today, Monday, January 13, as the former garnered his second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week and the latter earned a mention on the league’s weekly Honor Roll.
 
Chestnut Hill College (3-12, 3-3) looked inside off the opening tip as sophomore forward Keyon Butler (Chester, Pa.) captained an early Griffin push that landed a 12-2 lead on a Spann layup with 16:54 remaining in the first half. The Scarlet and Gold held a double-digit lead for most of the period and slipped away from Felician University (4-10, 2-4) for a 13-point, 28-15 (8:57), lead before the Golden Falcons rallied to tie the contest at 31-31 with 4:35 left to play. Warrick put the work in to keep the Chestnut Hill College neck-and-neck with Felician University, scoring eight straight points before freshman guard Ahmad Bickley (Philadelphia, Pa.) hit a three-point shot to give the Griffins a 44-41 (1:13) lead late in the first half. A Golden Falcon free throw trimmed the halftime deficit a point to just two points; 44-42 (0:42).
 
At the start of the second half, freshman guard Conor Regan (Mullica, N.J.) headlined the Chestnut Hill College front as he scored nine points in a competitive stretch that left the Griffins a 57-55 lead with 14:16 remaining. Felician University took the lead for a short time after, pacing the Scarlet and Gold to ties at 63-63 (10:55) and 74-74 (2:53). The later stale mate separated in Chestnut Hill College’s favor as freshman guard Julius Phillips (Philadelphia, Pa.) knocked down eventual the game-winning shot with 1:23 (76-74) left to play. The Golden Falcons missed their chance to force overtime, as sophomore guard Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J.) missed the first of two pivotal free throws; 76-75 (0:14).
 
Warrick led four Griffins in double figures; his 22-point performance was his second straight game of 20 points or more as well as a second straight career-high. Warrick also recorded eigth rebounds, an assist, and a steal. Spann complimented his second double-double of the season - 11 points, 13 rebounds – with an assist, two blocks, and two steals.
