New Haven, CT – (4/27/2010) – Freshman pitcher Bob Hopkins (Philadelphia, PA) joined junior catcher Bryan Henry (Columbus, NJ) on the most recent release of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) weekly award winners for baseball. Hopkins was named the Rookie of the Week after collecting a win and posting a 0.00 earned run average (ERA) over 6.1 innings of work for Chestnut Hill College.

 

Hopkins went 1-0 this week, but he earned his second collegiate win with a solid relief appearance against Nyack College (4/24/10). He tossed 4.1 innings of relief in first game versus the Warriors and was credited with the victory after only allowing five hits and two walks while striking out four. Chestnut Hill College (15-18, 11-7) won the contest 22-6. Hopkins also threw two scoreless innings in a start against the University of the Sciences on April 22.

 

Hopkins is 2-0 while carrying a 2.49 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched this season. He has made nine appearances including his start against the Devils. Hopkins has allowed only six runs on 20 hits and seven walks while totaling seven strikeouts.

 

The baseball team challenges Philadelphia University in a non-conference contest next. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27.
