Goldstein Continues Honorable Mention

Streak for Men’s Soccer

New Haven, CT – (9/20/2010) – Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Goldstein (Pennsauken, NJ) collected his first, two shutouts of the season as he made a 14 required saves to lead the Griffins to a 2-0 week; for his efforts he was recognized with an honorable mention among the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) weekly award winners. He is the third straight Griffin to earn an honorable mention this season.

Goldstein totaled 12 saves on 22 shots faced against Goldey-Beacom College, as he made several acrobatic maneuvers to preserve the shutout for Chestnut Hill College (5-1, 3-0). The Griffins would eventually win the conference contest on the first collegiate goal for freshman forward Darius Gbunblee (Philadelphia, PA). Goldstein followed that performance with two saves on 12 shots faced in another 1-0 win over Concordia College. Goldstein currently holds a 1.15 goals-against-average over his 549:21 minutes in net, ranking him second among his CACC peers. He has made 34 saves on 110 shots faced; posting an 82.9 save percentage.

The men’s soccer team visits Wilmington University at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, for their next CACC contest.
