Barton and MacGregor Earn CACC Weekly Honor Roll Recognition
New Haven, Conn. - (9/12/2016) – Placing three among the top ten finishers at Belmont Plateau on Saturday, September 10, the Chestnut Hill College men’s cross country team scored an impressive third place (third of 11, 62 points) finish at the Philadelphia Metro Meet. Among those three finishers were senior Eric Barton (Colora, Md.) and a pair of freshmen, Frank MacGregor (Collegeville, Pa.), and Zigmund Fisher (Chadds Ford, Pa.), who respectively ran fifth (17:55.7), sixth (17:57.0), and eighth (18:04.9) in the men’s five-kilometer (5K) run. Barton and MacGregor were recognized on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Cross Country Honor Roll for their efforts.
In addition to Barton (17:55.7), four other Griffins also beat the men’s old 5K mark, including McGregor (17:57.0), Fisher (18:04.9), freshman Aaron Morris (Philadelphia, Pa.) (18:49.6, 20th), and freshman Alex Lynch (Manchester, N.J.) (19:07.3, 23rd). Behind them, freshman Jake DiCello (Pottsville, Pa.) was 27th (19:41.2), freshman Hunter Angle (Doylesburg, Pa.) ran 43rd (21:14.6), junior Robert Johnson (Warminster, Pa.) placed 49th (22:12.0), sophomore Ediegeo Vanterpool II (Clementon, N.J.) crossed 54th (22:36.4), and sophomore Adrian Calderon (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) finished 58th (23:11.9).
The Chestnut Hill College cross country teams compete next on Sunday, September 18, when they journey to the Bronx, New York, for the Queensborough Community College Invitational for a 10:00 a.m. run through Van Cortlandt Park.
