Trio Represents Griffins’ Success On CACC Weekly Honor Roll

New Haven, Conn. – (3/23/2016) – In a 4-0 week that included doubleheader sweeps of Kutztown University and Post University, the bat of senior first baseman Patrick Campion (Norristown, Pa.) and the mound work of senior Zachary Crim (Hatboro, Pa.) and freshman Dino Cattai (Philadelphia, Pa.) earned recognition on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Weekly Honor Roll. Campion offered a .500/.643/.563 slash line in the four game stretch, resulting in two stolen bases (2-for-2, 1.000), three runs, and a run-batted-in (RBI). Meanwhile versus Post University, Crim earned his second win (2-0) of the season in a complete-game, ten strikeout performance before Cattai relieved sophomore Patrick Kelley (Pipersville, Pa.) for a two-inning save in game two.

With an 8-0 victory already under their belts on Wednesday, March 16, Chestnut Hill College looked to end their first home stand of the season with a sweep of Kutztown University. Junior pitcher Justin Harnett (Aberdeen, N.J.) gave them all he could, offering a perfect game through five inning while a second-inning single from junior centerfielder Brandon DiBona (Southampton, Pa.), a third-inning single through the right side from senior pinch hitter Robert Slagle III (Lafayette Hill, Pa.), and some fourth-inning head-up base running by junior Joseph Monaghan (Doylestown, Pa.) accounted for the scores in a 3-1 final. Harnett and game-one starter, sophomore Andrew Sibson (Galloway, N.J.) combined to hold the Golden Bears to one run on six hits and two walks while senior first baseman Patrick Campion (Norristown, Pa.) went 5-for-7 win the twin bill.

Three days later, on Saturday, March 19, Chestnut Hill College served as the visitor on their home field while opening their CACC schedule with an afternoon doubleheader against Post University. Comfortable on their home mound, the Scarlet and Gold starters both gave a good show in winning efforts as Crim went the distance in a 3-2 game-one victory (2-0) while Kelley struck out nine in seven innings of 4-1 game-two win (2-1). Cattai kept the bases clean and struck out three in his two frames out of the bullpen while Campion was 2-for-7 with a pair of walks.

The Chestnut Hill College baseball team returns to Latshaw-McCarthy Field on Tuesday, March 22, when they host #3 Millersville University in a 3:00 p.m. contest.
