Brogna Opens Season with ECC Women’s Bowling Weekly Honor Roll Appearance
West Babylon, N.Y. – (10/18/2018) – Leading Chestnut Hill College to a 14th (14th of 20, 6W-4L, 4,212-4,179, 8,391 pins) place finish at this past weekend’s Bud Whitman Memorial, hosted by Kutztown University, with a 17.3 frame average, junior Stephanie Brogna (Morganville, N.J.) was recognized on the first East Coast Conference (ECC) Women’s Bowling Weekly Honor Roll. Brogna placed 23rd during traditional play, averaging 179.0 and scoring a high game 215 in the Griffins’ loss to #15 St. Francis University.
In their first match at Berks Lanes, Chestnut Hill College (6-4) got off to a fast start thanks to a 945-868 victory over #20 Duquesne University. The win over the Dukes spurred the Griffins on to a 5-0 day (12th of 20, 4,212 pins) that also included bakers triumphs over Penn State University (PSU) – Behrend (827-608), Medialle College (813-801), Coppin State University, (835-758), and Wilmington University (860-857). In the last game, the Wildcats held a 23-pin lead before the Griffins captured the final game by a 216-190 measure.
Chestnut Hill College concluded play at Kutztown University’s Bud Whitman Memorial on Sunday, October 14, with a 1-4 performance against #8 Delaware State University (L, 842-926), St. Francis University (L, 816-935), St. Francis Brooklyn College (L, 881-924), Bloomfield College (W, 836-781), and Daemen College (L, 804-819), to finish 14th of 20 (4,179 pins) at Berks Lanes in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania. The Griffins finished the tournament with 6-4 record and 8,391 total pins (12th of 20 (4,212 pins)/14th of 20 (4,179 pins)). In the third game of traditional play, the Griffins were led by a 215 from Brogna and a 203 from sophomore Laura Oliver (Bayville, N.J.), but lost to #15 St. Francis University 924-881.
