Adler and Jorsal Earn Appearances On CACC Men’s Tennis Weekly Honor Roll

New Haven, Conn. – (3/25/2019) – Both freshman Kai Adler (Leer, Germany) and junior Erik Jorsal (Mudgeeraba, Australia) were 4-0 in Chestnut Hill College’s 2-0 week versus the University of the Sciences (USciences) and Le Moyne College, earning themselves recognition on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Tennis Honor Roll.

On Wednesday, March 20, Chestnut Hill College (10-3, 1-0) took the team matches from USciences (2-4, 0-1) in numerical order as Jorsal and freshman Tom Pitchley (London, England) settled number one doubles, 6-2, before Scarlet and Gold victories followed in the second (6-2) and third flight (7-5). After a 6-0, 6-1, wins at number six singles and number three singles, Jorsal clinched the Scarlet and Gold’s first CACC victory of the season with his 6-2, 6-0, win at number four singles, 4-0. USciences broke the shutout with a 6-4, 6-2, win at number one singles, 4-1. Afterwards, Adler and sophomore Jesus Darias (Bolivar, Venezuela) respectively took down number five (6-3, 6-4) and number two (7-5, 6-2) singles, 6-1.

Chestnut Hill College hosted Le Moyne College (5-4) for Saturday afternoon’s high-level regional competition. The Griffins used a sweep of doubles play to grab the early advantage and spur and eventual 5-2 victory over the Dolphins. The triumph was the Scarlet and Gold’s 10th of the season, marking the program’s eighth straight season of double digit wins. Chestnut Hill College claimed their first doubles victory in the top flight, where recently ranked #49 Jorsal and Pitchley earned a 6-4 win over their Le Moyne College counterparts. The next two team flights came on order, 6-3 and 6-2. With the double point in hand, the Griffins looked for a swift run through the singles ranks. But the Dolphins first tied the match, 1-1, with a 6-1, 6-1, win at number two singles. Fortunately, it was the only setback the Scarlet and Gold would suffer as a 7-6 (4), 6-3, Adler win at number-five singles triggered the Griffins’ three-point run to victory, 4-1. Jorsal scored the last Scarlet and Gold point in the 5-2 final with his 6-0, 4-6, 6-3, win at number five singles.
