Amaya and Reinert Relish CACC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Accolades

New Haven, Conn. - (4/16/2019) – Senior Valeria Amaya (Oakland, Calif.) and senior midfielder Julia Reinert (Bridgeport, Pa.) both appeared on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Lacrosse Report. The former garnered her fifth Goalkeeper of the Week Award with a 1-1 record and 25 saves on an 11.04 goals-against-average (GAA) and a .532 save percentage, while the latter received an Honor Roll mention after reaching the 150 career-goal milestone in a 16-8 win at Nyack College. Reinert finished the week with six goals, nine ground balls, eight draws, and a caused turnover.

CACC play continued on Tuesday, April 9, for Chestnut Hill College (4-6, 2-2), who took on the Jefferson (6-4, 5-0) in an evening matchup at Victory Field #1. Both teams struggled to finish their shots in the first half resulting in the Scarlet and Gold only being down 5-3 at halftime. Unfortunately, an early Lady Ram run in the second half led to a 14-6 loss for the Griffins. Reinert (2 goals), senior defender Kaley Malampy (Ridley Park, Pa.) (2), junior attack Dai Pearson (Pottstown, Pa.) (1), and junior midfielder Spencer Fitzgerald (Huntingtown, Md.) (1) accounted for the Griffins’ six goals. Reinert added two ground balls and a draw to her two tallies, while Amaya totaled 10 saves, two ground balls, and caused a turnover in the loss (3-6).

Chestnut Hill College came back from an early 4-1 deficit to claim a 16-8 victory in Saturday, April 13, afternoon’s CACC contest at Nyack College (5-10, 3-3). Reinert and Fitzgerald both reached career milestones, respectively reaching the 150 and 100 career-goals plateaus with their tallies at 22:26 (9-6) and 3:49 (15-7). Fitzgerald was the Griffins’ top scorer in the affair, recording six goals in addition to her two draws. Reinert added seven ground balls, seven draws, and a caused turnover to her four tallies, while Amaya (4-6) earned the win with 15 saves and a ground ball.
