Trossi and McDonough Make CACC Weekly Honor Roll

New Haven, Conn. - (2/22/2016) – Leading Chestnut Hill College in a 1-1 week of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, freshman guard Mary Trossi (Somerset, N.J.) and junior guard Brittany McDonough (Brooklyn, N.Y.) both earned recognition on the league’s weekly Honor Roll. Trossi averaged 15.5 points-per-game (PPG) and 7.5 rebounds-per-game (RPG) while recording eight assists and three steals. McDonough offered 18.0 PPG and 3.0 RPG in addition to four blocks and two steals.

In what would turn out to be a highly-suspenseful Saturday afternoon in Sorgenti Arena, Chestnut Hill College first established a 37-24 halftime advantage before relinquishing the lead by end of regulation, 74-74, and holding the University of the Sciences (USciences) to a lone overtime field goal (1-of-10, .100) in a 91-80 final. Trossi led all scorers with a career-high 28 points and she was joined in double figures by three teammates, including 24 points from McDonough and a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double from junior forward Lauren Milligan (South Hampton, England).

Trossi and McDonough were both 10-of-15 (.667) from the field as the former hit 8-of-9 (.889) from the free throw line in addition to seven rebounds, six assists, and a steal while the latter hit 2-of-6 (.333) from long range and 2-of-2 (1.000) from the charity stripe in excess of her five rebounds, an assist, and three blocks.

Chestnut Hill College found themselves with a 34-27 lead as they headed to the locker rooms at halftime of Wednesday night’s contest at Holy Family University. But their efforts were undone in the second half as they snuck out of the third quarter with a 47-45 advantage before scoring only seven fourth-quarter points in a 61-54 loss. Freshman forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) scored a team-high 14 points, but it was the combined rebounding effort of Milligan and junior guard Caity Kuhnen (Binghamton, N.Y.) that kept Chestnut Hill College in the fray.

McDonough was the early benefactor of Milligan and Kuhnen's rebounding as she recorded 12 points and four assists in the first half. She scored all of her points in the first half and also collected a rebound, seven assists, a block, and two steals. Trossi supplied three points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

?The women’s basketball team concludes the 2015-2016 regular season on Tuesday, February 23, with a 6:00 p.m. CACC contest at Philadelphia University.
