Chestnut Hill College Athletics

New Haven, CT – (3/31/2010) – Accolades from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) continue this week for the Chestnut Hill College men’s tennis team as sophomore Julius Twyman (Coatesville, PA) received an honorable mention among the conference’s weekly award winners. Twyman was 2-1 at number three singles and number two doubles helping the Griffins to a 2-1 week.

Chestnut Hill College (7-5, 2-0) collected conference wins over the University of the Sciences (USIP) and Post University with strong play throughout the line-up. Playing at number three singles, Twyman scored a 6-2, 6-4 win over junior Chris Lukose (Marietta, GA) of USIP on March 25. He then recorded a 6-1, 6-1 over sophomore Markesse McLeod (Waterbury, CT) of Post University, for his second individual, conference triumph on March 27. Twyman also teamed with Carson Richter (Lafayette Hill, PA) at number two doubles to pick up wins over USIP and Post. They defeated Lukose and senior Ricardo Martins (San Paolo, Brazil) of USIP 8-6 and topped freshman Andrew Oliveira (Brampton, Ontario) and sophomore Michael MacDonald (Stamford, CT) of Post 8-0. Twyman holds the Griffins best individual record at this point, standing 6-1 at number three singles. He is 6-3 with Richter at number two doubles.

The men’s tennis team continues play in the upcoming week with three conference matches. Their first contest will be a 4:00 p.m. match against Philadelphia University on Wednesday, March 31.
